Tue, 25th May | 18:30 - 20:00 BST (GMT+01:00)

This panel event is not longer happening and will be rescheduled. An email invite with another date for it will go out in the coming weeks.

To prepare you for a role in tech we're running a panel event in collaboration with Compare the Market where we'll be chatting with a variety of people in roles who are not "developers".

On the panel we will be speaking with:

• Deepthini Lansakara - Senior Software Development Engineer In Test (SDET) - Deepthini started her tech journey 15 years ago and worked mainly on quality/ testing aspects of the product with various technologies. In recent years she embarked on her passion for testing iOS and Android mobile apps. Her role at Comparethemarket is to ensure the quality of the iOS and Android Meerkat app and it's in the industry standards. In order to achieve this, she carries out various types of automated and manual testing using different tools and technologies.
• Nkiruka Nkemchor - Business Analyst - Nkiruka is a Certified Business Analyst with a degree in Computer Science. She has been working as a Business Analyst for over 5 years now and thoroughly enjoy finding innovative solutions to business problems. She is responsible for supporting the engineers in her team to deliver the work that builds compare the Markets services, which aids in achieving both business and customer needs. She's always been interested in developing technically, and in her role (especially in Comparethemarket) has increased the need to get better technically in order for her to sync well with the engineers, of which she is enjoying.
• David Rooks - Delivery Manager in Data Engineering - David has been working at Comparethemarket as a delivery manager for 18 months. The role is very similar to that of a scrum master and he's currently leading one of their data engineering teams. Prior to working at Comparethemarket he was at Sky/NowTV as a scrum master delivering video streaming apps and before that he worked at O2 as a test manager for their e-commerce site. His career began as a developer, working on C++ and Python application before he pivoted into testing and eventually into team management. He has enjoyed the various stages of his career but most enjoys being part of a team that delivers business and customer value - that’s certainly the case here at Comparethemarket.
• Paul Izod - UX Designer - Paul started at BGL Group, Comparethemarket’s parent company in the contact centre as a customer service representative. Having done some websites outside of work, he applied for a Junior UI Developer role and was successful. Fast forward a few years and has been then lucky enough to progress into full UI Developer and found a true passion for lay in User Experience - That’s what he would end up reading about and experimenting with outside of work. In September 2018 he joined Comparethemarket as a UX designer and hasn't looked back! His career is proof that you can find your passion and follow it at any stage of your career. It’s ok to not know exactly what your path is right from the start.
• And the MC will be Kimberley Cook
