Friday lunchtime talks - part of codebar Festival 2026
Fri, 20th March | 12:00 - 13:30 GMT (GMT+00:00)

As part of codebar Festival we have two wonderful virtual lunchtime talks.

SCRUM and developers by Helen Khor. In this lunchtime talk you'll leave understanding what SCRUM is, how it works in a sprint, how developers fit specifically into SCRUM and what are the common tools used for managing SCRUM?

AI & Ethics: Why Data Quality and Fairness Matter by Charlene Kuye. Artificial intelligence(AI) systems rely on data, lots of it. And because data is created by people and shaped by society, it isn’t neutral. It can carry assumptions, exclude people, and mirror existing biases, which can then be built into automated decisions like who gets hired, who is approved for a loan, or who faces additional screening and checks. In this talk, we will explore what can go wrong when biased or poor-quality data is used at scale, including how people can be misidentified, excluded, harmed or treated unfairly.

These talks will be virtual and held on Zoom, you'll receive the Zoom link on the morning of them. These will both be recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel after. If you have any questions, please drop us an email [email protected].
