Watch that scope - on Test Driven Development
Tue, 23rd November | 12:00 - 13:00 GMT (GMT+00:00)

In this workshop run by Pea Tyczynska, a developer from Government Digital Service (GDS) you will learn what Test Driven Development (TDD) is, why it's important, and how to do it well. You will learn how to fit it into a developer's routine and there will be a practical exercise where you will have the opportunity to solve a coding kata using TDD. Please note, Pea will be using Python for the live demo, but you can use the language of your choice.

Prerequisites: if you want to just listen in, there are no prerequisites. If you want to participate in the workshop in a practical way, you need to know how to write and run a test in the language of your choice, and how best to prepare a repo that is ready for writing testing and code. Example repositories in Python, Ruby, and Java:

At GDS their talented digital teams ensure their products and services work for everyone and help the government to become joined-up, trusted, and responsive to user needs. They work with digital teams across government to identify where there are common needs for products and platforms that can be built once and reused widely.

You can find out more about GDS and their work on their blog,, if you are interested in working at GDS you can visit their careers page and create an account to be notified when roles of interest become available.

This session will be on Zoom, you'll receive the Zoom link on the morning of the panel. It will be recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel after. If you have any questions please drop us an email [email protected].
