What is ‘vibecoding’?
Mon, 6th October | 18:30 - 21:00 BST (GMT+01:00)

What is ‘vibecoding’? What are ‘vibes’? What is ‘coding’?

Actually that last one is quite easy: coding is when you write a bunch of text down in a file, and later the computer runs it and does something.

These days, though, computers can write the code themselves! : Enter vibecoding: the pastime of making software in a casual, low-key, hey that’s cool kinda way. Perhaps you are sitting on the sofa watching TV. Or eating a pizza with one hand and pressing ENTER with the other.

In this interactive, fun workshop, Alex Hort-Francis will cover vibecoding from the ground up. No previous coding experience is needed! If you glanced at an app at once, that is enough background knowledge. Those interested in joining in the fun should bring their own laptop.

Alex Hort-Francis works as a Software Engineer at University College London.
