Build an AI-powered poem generator!
Tue, 19th November | 18:00 - 19:30 GMT (GMT+00:00)

AI is exciting for sure, but what can I, a person who lives in the real world, do with it?

We all know we can go to ChatGPT's website and ask it things, but this is really only scratching the surface of what a 'large language model' (LLM) like ChatGPT can do.

With a little bit of tech know-how ✨, we can get a lot more out of LLMs.

In this live workshop, Alex Hort-Francis will show you how to use the OpenAI API to talk to GPT-4o (the LLM that powers ChatGPT) in a more 'programmatic' fashion.

The project? A fetching frontend (pun intended) that displays a brand new four-line poem about lemons every time the page is refreshed.

This workshop will hopefully teach you more about:

  • How REST APIs work
  • How to use OpenAI's API
  • How to make a basic web application with open source technologies
  • How you might deploy your web app online for the world to see 🌍
  • Just what GPT-4o thinks about lemons (spoiler: it has vivid opinions)

This workshop will happen on Zoom, you'll receive the link on the morning of the workshop. This workshop will be recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel after. If you have any questions please drop us an email [email protected].
